What are BEV and PHEV cars?

In addition to our petrol and diesel cars, THE OUT now offers PHEV and BEV cars.

BEV is short for battery electric vehicle, or more frequently known as an electric car. This means the car runs on electricity only, like our Jaguar I-PACE.

PHEV stands for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, so the cars can run on both electricity and fuel. They have a traditional fuel combustion engine and a battery charged electric motor. The plugin element means that it will need to be charged at a charging station.

To charge the battery, you’ll need to plug the car into a charge point. You can find out how to charge the cars here:
