Excess Waiver Terms & Conditions
As per our Terms & Conditions, you are responsible for any damage to the vehicle over and above fair wear and tear, and must pay our reasonable costs for bringing the vehicle back to the condition stated in the vehicle condition report up to the value of the displayed excess and security deposit amount.
As part of the booking process, you will be offered the opportunity to take out an Excess Waiver (subject to eligibility). This can be added to your rental up until 24 hours prior to delivery of the vehicle or at the time of booking. This waiver reduces your excess and security deposit to £0 and covers any damage to the vehicle or provided accessorises covered by our standard insurance, as well as damage to wheels, tyres, glass, under body, roof, keys, locks, lock outs and battery failure.
This waiver is available to purchase (subject to eligibility), for those who hold a valid United Kingdom, European Union or EEA or International driving licence or permit for the hired vehicle. This must be valid in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and individuals must be between the ages of 25 and 74 years old. All individuals must also meet the criteria for our standard insurance.
If you are found to have breached the terms and conditions of our standard insurance, this excess waiver will be invalidated and you will be responsible for any damage caused to the vehicle, accessories or other items provided by THE OUT as per our standard terms and conditions. This includes but is not limited to damage resulting from the driver's misuse of alcohol or drugs (including the misuse of prescription drugs), from fraudulent, dishonest, illegal activities or a criminal act committed by the driver or any passengers, if the hired vehicle was being driven by a person that is not named on your hire agreement, any damage that occurs while the hired vehicle is not on a public road, for example while on a safari or an adventure trail, and any loss or damage resulting from a deliberate and intentional act by the driver.
In the event of damage to the vehicle or accessorises, you may be required to provide a statement providing context for the scenario where damage occurred. Failure to do so truthfully may invalidate the excess waiver and you may be deemed responsible for any damage caused.
This product can be cancelled upon request until 24 hours prior to the agreed delivery time of the rental vehicle. Cancellations can be completed through our website, iOS application, Concierge Portal or through communication with our customer service team which is available through live chat available on www.theout.com and via email at hello@theout.com. Should you cancel the car rental to which the excess waiver is associated, the waiver will automatically be cancelled. In both situations, you shall receive a full refund.
